General FAQ

Where is WILLOW SURF CENTER located?

We are located at a spot on the south west coast of Mauritius called, Le Morne at a spot called the Kite lagoon. We operate from a big red trailer about half way down the beach towards the mountain. You cant miss us!

Will my lesson be rescheduled if theres no wind?

Yes, your lesson will be automatically be rescheduled to the next possible availability. Otherwise you can reschedule your next lesson once logging into the customer booking portal.

Can I cancel or reschedule my lesson?

Yes, you will be refunded the outstanding amount of remaining lessons. If you decide to cancel as you are unable to attend the lesson, there will be a charge on the refund. It’s important to see our policy before booking, and to give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule.

How far in advance should I book my lesson?

It’s always a good idea to book your kiteboarding or wingfoiling lesson as early as possible, especially during peak season. This will ensure that you can secure your preferred date and time.

What is included in the cost of my lesson?

The cost of your kiteboarding lesson will include kite or wingfoil equipment for your lesson, your instructor, wetsuit, helmet and booties.

What should I bring to my lesson or rental?

You should bring appropriate clothing, such as a boardshorts/swimshorts or bathing suit. If you have your own wetsuit, you are welcome to use it. Otherwise for lessons, we will provide wetsuits. Additionally, you should bring sunscreen, a towel, and any personal items you may need.

Is it safe to learn to Wingfoil or Kiteboard in Le Morne?

Mauritius and particularly Le Morne world renown to be one of the best and safest places to learn how to kiteboard or wingfoil. There is no other spot in the world that is so diverse, combining all the conditions that you may dream of in just one spot.

Do you also offer accommodation, hotels or car rentals?

Yes, we do. We have a range of different properties available for rent. As well as wide range of hotels we work with. We also have partners that we work with if you are wanting to rent a car during your stay in Mauritius. WING FAQ

What is wingfoiling?

Wingfoiling is a relatively new watersport that combines aspects of windsurfing, kiteboarding, and foiling. It involves riding a board equipped with a hydrofoil while holding onto a handheld wing. It is currently the fastest growing watersport, worldwide.

Can I take lessons even if I have never tried wingfoiling before?

Absolutely! We offer lessons and courses to people of all levels! Some experience with watersports, such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, or surfing, can be helpful. But it is not necessary to have prior experience with wingfoiling.

Kiteboarding is too dangerous for me. Is wingfoiling less intimidating?

If you find kiteboarding too dangerous, wingfoiling is the perfect alternative! Its easier to understand and much less intimidating. If you feel too overpowered, let go the wing and it will just fall and lay in the water without even pulling you!
There is little to almost no risk for freak accidents while learning how to wing!

How long does it take to learn wingfoiling?

The learning curve varies depending on individual skills and experience. It is quite a fast progression to be able to wingfoil independently. Typically, students can become proficient enough to ride on their own after 6-10 hours of lessons.

What wind conditions are best for wingfoiling?

Ideal wind conditions for wingfoiling are typically around 10-20 knots, although it can be done in lighter or stronger winds depending on the skill level of the rider.

Is wingfoiling safe?

Like any watersport, there are risks involved. However, with proper instruction and adherence to safety guidelines, wingfoiling can be a safe activity and easy to learn. It is very unlikely to have a freak accident while wingfoiling.

How long does it take to learn kiteboarding?

The learning curve varies depending on individual skills and experience. Typically, students can become proficient enough to ride on their own after 8-10 hours of lessons.

Can children learn to kiteboard or wingfoil?

Yes, children as young as 10 years old or 40kgs can learn to kiteboard with the proper with intensive instruction and supervision. Alternatively, Wingfoiling or Wingsurfing is an easy way to get into the world of watersports at a young age as the level of risk is much lower.
